Neighborhood clean up story by Andrea

On the morning of July 8th 2008, my sister Shayne, my friend Casey, and I went with Auntie Lily on a trash pick-up adventure. It was originally supposed to be our exercise time (we walk around the block in our rural neighborhood) but we decided to take a large black garbage bag & pull wagon along just in case we saw any litter on the side of the road. We played a fun game where all of the glass bottles were bonuses. Whenever someone picked something up they had to tell everyone else what it was and if it was a glass bottle they would yell “BONUS!”.

Well we hadn’t gone very far up the street when we saw Lea, our neighbor, driving toward us in his little golf cart with his dog Katie. He had seen us as we had walked past his house and decided to see if we needed any help. He had also brought more bags to put the trash in. We decided to tie the wagon to the back of the cart. We then put the trash in the back of the cart and took turns riding in the wagon. About half way around the block the heat was almost unbearable! So most of us piled into the golf cart and I rode in the wagon, but we were still on the look out for trash. Whenever one of us saw a piece of trash we would tell the driver (Lea) to stop and we would all hop out, pick up the trash, and put it into the bag. Once we got most of the way around the block we decided to just drive the rest of the way home to escape the heat, as Auntie Lilly had already picked up most of the litter in that area the day before with my little brothers Bryan and Jaden. As we drove up to the dumpster we all hopped out and threw the bags into it. We thanked Lea for the ride and headed for the shower to get clean. It felt good to have done our part to help keep our neighborhood clean and looking nice. We love you all and thank you for listening to our story.

Rewards!

This weeks Klub was on the subject of Rewards! There were a lot of good stories to choose from (see below), but we chose the story of "Helping the Stranger". This was about a king that searched out & found a couple that was deserving of a reward. And reward him he did!

We had a guest appearance of Bill, from Monterrey, as the King! Thanks Bill!

Some of the kids made crowns, to go along with the verse: Be faithful & I will give you a crown of life. Revelations 2:10
tanks for your help, Auntie Lily!

Alan & Kenny with their crowns!

Jaden with his crown!

The older children made Origami crowns. Here is a link to more origami to try. Be sure to use square paper for your projects. Rewards to those that bring a sample to the next KK meeting. (At the park, by the way.) Origami in action!

How about a reward for those that bring a origami sculpture to the next KK!

Lindsay, James & Marie's granddaughter, joined us for the activities this week. Here she is with her paper puppet.

Speaking of Marie...Thank you, Marie! She supplied us with some delicious snacks! They keep us happy & healthy during our KK!

Hope to see you at the next one!

Be the Best!

We got "wet & wild" today! Everyone (or almost everyone) brought their swimsuits so we could enjoy some water balloon activities! Check out the video for the fun!

Andrea praying for Jerry (Kylie's grandpa), who was in the hospital. Hope you're feeling better, Jerry!

Shayne & Kenny helped act out the story of the Peacock & the Hen, teaching us to just do the best at what we can do. (It's not all about how beautiful you are.)

We then did a fun art project...

...then proceeded outside for our water balloon fun!

Here are a few extra activities you can do.
